Away from Berkeley, at last...yay or nay?

So, i'm finally flying off to this unknown world today. But since I'm too coward to
live there and never come back to Berkeley, I have purchased a ticket to come back
to the bay area at the end of the month of August. I will be back 8/18-8/29. And yes,
it does have something to do with my birthday. I'm too scared to live in a life where no one
celebrate my birthday....or I get one of those sad messages like, "happy birthday Yuri...across
from the country"

So...still no one updated this. You guys must be either really really busy, or maybe I'm just
really really bored. I think it's the combination of it. But since this was created so we could all
keep in touch, I figured I'd update what I have planned so far for the summer.

6/5(today) --> Fly to Amherst
6/19 --> Fly to London
7/6 --> Fly to Japan
7/20 --> Fly back from Japan to London
8/11--> Fly back to Amherst
8/18--> Fly to Berkeley
8/29 --> Fly back to Amherst
9/4 --> School starts

So it seems like a lot of flying. I guess I will get used to airplanes after all.
Let me know what you guys' plan is so maybe we can get together or something :)

Visiting Amherst

So...I've been away from Berkeley, visiting Amherst right now.
Today is my last day, so I thought I'd update this and let you guys know
about my trip.

First of all, it is soooooo hot out here. I thought it would be kind of cold, since
spring had not hit a week ago. For some reason, since the first day we got here,
it's been really warm. It hit 90 degrees today...burning hot!

On the other hand, the campus looks very very pretty. Lots of trees and grassy areas.
There's a big pond in the middle of the campus.

My building is also very pretty too. Since they only have a graduate department for my
major, they have an entire building dedicated just for us and the professors. They have
graduate lounge, and there are so many equipments...TEM, SEM, Mass Spec, Chromatography,
...etc, you name it! They have so much funding from companies, they have an awesome
lab set up.

Also, the library and everything is inside the same building...so technically, I never have to
go outside...haha ^_^

I also found an apartment to stay in at least over the summer. Apparently, there are a lot
of grad students living in the complex, so maybe I can meet some of them and be friends.
I'm living with an indian girl who is a physics major....very excited about it. She seems
outgoing, and since I can get my own room, you guys can probably visit when you want to
;)

The downside is....it seems like there are no cute guys...haha lol It was sort of expected, but
still disappointing....well, maybe i'll see more cute guys later. I just haven't seen any.

For the first year students, we all take the same classes. There are 26 of us, plus 4 students studying abroad from Germany (yay), so all 30 of us will apparently be very close after the first year. I guess that's slightly similar to what I had in Berkeley, so I'm getting excited about that too.

I also need to review Ochem though...since I only took one semester of it. If anyone don't need
an Ochem book, let me know...or anything that has to do with Ochem...because I can really use some.

Alright, that's it for now. People need to start updating these things so we can really keep in touch!

1st entry

Since no one has said anything yet, I decided to write the first entry...

So, if anyone is confused, this blog was created such that all five of us can keep in touch
even after we graduate. We all know that most of us are miles apart (at least I know I am),
so this is supposed to help us organize trips (if any), and just talk abour our lives, sporatically.

Alright, that's about it for the overview of this blog...people need to write something!
